Key Benefits
Early in the school calendar year, youth under age 19 and in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades are invited to participate in the annual Optimist International Essay Contest. Club winners advance to district contests, and an International Essay Panel judges the district winning essays. This is Optimist International's 5th most popular program, and it awards $10,000 annually in scholarships. Our club offers a $100 scholarship to our local club winner if there are at least 3 participants. Thanks goodness for good English teachers; their worth is appreciated and exhibited by our essay entrants.
